The Office of Research Affairs, as the first center established in the Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology, has been an important part of the university's research activities to date. This office, with its departments, manages research activities in several areas.

Undoubtedly, the real capability, development and independence of countries is directly related to the ability to produce science and develop research activities. In this regard, this university complex, thanks to its long history, strong infrastructure, capable human resources (expert professors with scientific and executive experience, students and scientific elites) has been able to play a valuable role in the production of science in the past three decades and its national position.

Having 530 research projects and publication of more than 5000 titles of scientific-research articles in ISI journals, scientific-research, ISC, foreign non-ISI journals, national and international conferences inside and outside the country are among the honors of this collection. Given the pivotal role of the university in identifying and responding to the needs of society and existing capacities; this university branch is ready to provide the following services:

Introducing the center

Islamic Azad University Yadegar-e-Imam Khomeini (RAH) branch, Shahr-e-Rey is one of the most experienced branches of Islamic Azad University in the field of technology and engineering. The core of applied technologies and robotics is a purposeful cycle for educating the young generation of the country with a positive attitude to create the field of entrepreneurship and knowledge-based products in the future of the country. This center clarifies the system of organizing activities related to technologies aimed by universities and research centers in the fields of electricity, mechanics and computer in the form of the Center for Applied Technologies of Electrical, Mechanical and Computer Engineering.

Objectives of the center

The Center for Applied Technologies in Electrical, Mechanical and Computer Engineering is established with the following objectives:

• Creating the necessary space and facilities for coherent activities in order to produce applied electrical, mechanical and computer technologies;

• Promoting the scientific status of the branch among universities and research institutes;

The scientific associations of the branch are composed of students and professors specialized in different fields of study and are active in all scientific, research and cultural fields. Having 20 official scientific, literary and artistic associations, this university branch has witnessed the success of its efforts in nurture and improvement of the scientific level of students. . Among the activities of the associations in the past years, the following can be mentioned:

Student competitions

While studying at university, students become acquainted with a variety of scientific subjects, most of which are theoretical and their application is unclear to students. Holding scientific and practical competitions in this period will acquaint students with the application of the theories they have read and create creativity and innovation in them and make them interested in research and study, as well as learning teamwork. Interested students can participate in these competitions by forming cohesive teams with the necessary perseverance and creativity.

National Transport Show Competition - Startup Weekend Communication and Transport Networks

The first transportation competition of the show was held on the 17th of Ordibehesht 1397 with a 5-hour pre-event for the participants and idea creators along with educational, happy and scientific workshops. It opened at 2 pm on 19th and ended at 9 pm on the 21st of April. In this startup weekend, 150 participants were present who presented their ideas to the judges in 60 seconds with new methods. Top 10 ideas were accepted and the first to third persons of the best ideas were awarded precious prizes.

National idea contest

Considering that the scientific program of the Islamic Azad University, Yadegar-e-Imam Khomeini (RAH) branch, Shahr-e-Rey, is referred to as "communication and transportation networks", the Young and Elite Researchers Club, in cooperation with the Student and Cultural Vice Chancellor, the Secretariat of the Scientific Program and the Architecture Department of the Faculty of Art and Architecture, has organized a اسیکس competition with the aim of solving some relevant issues. This competition was held in July 2018 to select the best designs from among designers, idea makers and students to symbolize the entrance element of the university and also to organize the entrance space of the university and submit the result to the district municipality. Third ACM

The third programming competition (ACM) of Islamic Azad University, Yadegar-e-Imam Khomeini (RAH) branch, with the presence of Dr. Davood Samari, General Manager of Communications and Development of Islamic Azad University, Dr. Leila Rezaei, General Manager of Bank Melli Systems Security, Dr. Saeed Ghazi Moghrebi, Head of the Branch, Board Members the dean, professors, staff, and students were held in the Kharazmi Hall of this university unit.

Race aqua-rockets, macaroni structures, egg rescue and paper rockets

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Islamic Azad University, Yadegar-e-Imam Khomeini (RAH) branch, Shahr-e-Rey held quadruple mechanics competitions including 4 races of aqua-rocket, macaroni structure, egg rescue and paper rocket for students in 2017 in order to heighten thinking skills, and creative thinking. This competition is the second mechanical competition that was held regionally at the Islamic Azad University, Yadegar-e-Imam Khomeini (RAH) branch in Shahr-e-Rey.

Second Student Programming Competition (ACM)

The second round of the Student Programming Competition (ACM) was held on Sunday, May 15, 2016. The competition was held in two stages and first the top 10 teams were selected in a pre-competition. Then, the final match started on Tuesday, May 16, at 9:30 AM and was held until 12:00 PM. In this competition, in which 31 teams of 3 people registered, students tested their strength in the field of computer programming.

Aqua-Rocket Race

The Aqua-Rocket Missile Competition is the first competition to be held regionally at the Islamic Azad University, Yadegar-e-Imam Khomeini (RAH) branch. The request for holding this competition was sent to the Central Organization in 2013 which made it possible to hold it in 2014.

Library

With the aim of collecting, organizing and informing printed and non-printed sources, the library has provided a suitable collection of scientific and research documents to meet the scientific needs of the academic community. In order to keep pace with the educational, research and cultural goals of the university, this office has purchased and prepared more than 5000 volumes of information resources and also increased the number of its information resources to more than 173 thousand volumes, and is now approaching to the standard of university libraries.

The subject of books and writing has a great impact on the development of social life in any country. Global experience shows that the growth and development of countries is rooted in the intellectual growth and level of study of individuals in any society, and without the growth of reading culture in societies, the growth of any civilization cannot be satisfied. Therefore, with the aim of publication, publishing and distributing scientific, research and research activities of professors, researchers and students in the form of various types of publishing and offering books, magazines and inventions, the Office of Scientific Publications of Yadegar Imam Branch has tried a small step in taking the path of spreading the culture of books and reading.

This university unit currently has a license from the central organization to publish four titles of scientific journals with the titles of "Scientific Research Quarterly" "Agricultural Research", Scientific Research Quarterly "Plant and Ecology", Scientific Research Quarterly "Muskavieh", Scientific Research Quarterly "Naghsh Mayeh" and the general scientific quarterly "Khoday Nameh". In order to strengthen international scientific cooperation and communication, promote and introduce research and scientific achievements on a domestic and global scale and increase the participation of Iranian scientists and researchers in advancing world scientific currents and given the importance of research and the important role of scientific conferences in promoting and developing knowledge and its achievements, it is necessary to provide the necessary arrangements to present the scientific achievements of the Islamic Azad University, Yadegar-e-Imam Khomeini (RAH) branch, Shahr-e-Rey in domestic and foreign conferences, as well as the interaction of domestic and foreign markets in the field of exchange of scientific findings.

The educational-research farm of Shahr-e-Rey unit is located at a distance of 10 km from Yadegar-e-Imam Khomeini (RAH) branch Complex and next to Tehran-Qom highway. This farm has an area of approximately 7 hectares and facilities such as; An 85-meter well, two Ferguson 285 tractors, 27 different agricultural implements, a thousand-meter greenhouse, as well as a guard building, a motor house, a conex for students and professors have provided a suitable platform for educational and research activities.

In the educational-research farm of the unit, on average, 5-6 research projects are held annually by professors, and with the admission of master's and doctoral students, the field operations of a number of student dissertations are also held in the farm. In addition, the farm hosts students from other departments each academic year, including the Research Sciences Unit and Payame Noor, who often visit and use its facilities.

Textile Research Center 

History

Islamic Azad University, Yadegar-e-Imam Khomeini (RAH), Shahr-e-Rey branch, since 1371, has been accepting students in the field of textile engineering, majoring in textile chemistry and fiber sciences. With the increase in the annual admission of students, faculty members were recruited and specialized and general laboratories and workshops were established. With the provision of experienced professors and up-to-date laboratory equipment, the recruitment of students in other textile majors as well as postgraduate courses began that has continued up to now. Despite a quarter of a century of experience in textile training, the existence of numerous research facilities and capacities and the existence of efficient human resources and with recent research-oriented approaches, the necessity of having the textile research center felt greatly. Having prepared the center's proposal and relevant correspondence, the center's activity license was issued by the Central Organization of Islamic Azad University on 9/26/93.

Scientific program of communication networks and transportation

Achieving the goals of the 20-year vision document of the Islamic Republic of Iran and achieving the first economic position in the region, requires optimal and efficient use of the potential and capacities of different sectors in the country. Among these, the field of communication and transportation networks has a special place in planning as one of the pillars of sustainable development and the development of domestic and international trade. On the other hand, this field will be able to contribute to the economic growth of the country when it is efficient, secure, integrated, reliable and competitive and all its components act in harmony with each other. On other words, communication networks and transportation are like the foundations of a bridge through which different sections of society move towards sustainable development. In this regard, the Scientific Program Secretariat of the Islamic Azad University, Yadegar-e-Imam Khomeini (RAH), Shahr-e-Rey  branch, as the scientific hub of communication and transportation networks, based on its mission to explain the path of the scientific program in this field with the aim of creating an integrated planning package and coordinated the development of communication networks and various functional areas of the transportation industry, in accordance with the upstream documents of the country, has tried to emphasize the importance of scientific decisions in the economic field, to prepare a comprehensive scientific program. In this reagrd, the opinions of thinkers, elites, managers, experts, experts and activists in various fields have been used. As mentioned, the focus of the current scientific program has been the country's upstream documents and reputable authorities in the field of communication networks and transportation industry. Among these documents are the general policies of the transportation sector, which have been announced in five paragraphs by the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. In addition, the general policies of the Sixth Development Plan, the general policies of science and technology, the general policies of the resistance economy, the general policies of the environment, the general policies of the consumption pattern reform, the general health policies, the generality of Article 44 of the Constitution, all of which have been promulgated by the Supreme Leader  and also the document of the Sixth Five-Year Plan for Economic, Social and Cultural Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran (1300-1400), are the first category documents which have been studied and cited in compiling this program. The comprehensive transportation plan of the country prepared by the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development is also among the most important documents that have been studied in compiling this program. Based on the general policies of the transportation sector, creating a comprehensive transportation system and regulating the share of each of its subdivisions by giving priority to rail transportation, as an important policy and strategy in the development and planning of the program. It has been suggested that in the continuation and in the general policies of the Sixth Development Plan, under the title of development of rail transportation with priority of equipping the network and cargo terminals and connecting the network to large economic, commercial and industrial centers and the world has been re-emphasized. In addition, the integration of different modes of transportation and the prevention of fragmented and island decisions by subdivisions requires a comprehensive and codified program for the development of transportation infrastructure. In addition, the statements and instructions of the Supreme Leader have been taken into account in drawing this map. Ayatollah Khamenei (protected by God Almighty) in September 2017, had a special emphasis on reducing road accidents as one of the injuries in the field of transportation. Also, according to the reports of the Greater Tehran Traffic Police, submitted to the Secretariat of the Scientific Program of the Islamic Azad University, Yadegar-e-Imam Khomeini (RAH), Shahr-e-Rey  branch, the discussion of accidents and injuries caused by it, is the most important challenge in the field of industry. Intra-city and suburban transportation was put forward and discussed. Despite studying all the mentioned documents, in order to achieve a comprehensive model and support the recommendations and provide a good picture of the effectiveness of the proposed programs (based on the examples of reform programs in other countries), comparative studies have been conducted. In addition to all the above documents, upstream documents of about 53 effective governmental and non-governmental organizations and institutions in the field of communication networks and transportation, including the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Expediency Council, parliament and municipalities have also been examined (Figure 1).

The transportation industry has many facets. In a general classification, based on the country's transportation development plan, it can be divided into three sections: infrastructure, equipment and fleet, and operation (Figure 2).

Infrastructure includes the transportation networks (roads, railways, airways, waterways, pipelines, etc.) as well as nodes or terminals (such as airports, railway stations, bus stations, and ports). Fleets generally move in networks, such as cars, trains, and airplanes. Operation includes activities that perform proper management, monitoring and control of the system (Such as traffic lights and treadmills, railway lanes, air traffic control, etc.), as well as policies such as how to manage transportation finances (such as using tolls or fuel taxes on highway transportation). In general, more network design in the field of civil engineering, architecture and urban planning, fleet and equipment design in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and related specializations, and exploitation in the fields of management and engineering (to Especially industrial engineering) is discussed.

The transportation industry and communication networks are complementary and complementary. Although new communication networks may be a substitute for transportation, a person may telegraph, telephone, fax or e-mail someone, or communicate with them on social media instead of seeing them up close, it has been proven that in general, these communication methods create a better two-way communication. Progress in transportation is impossible without communications and communication networks. Communication networks are essential to advanced transportation systems; For example, a railway line has a line that the train wants to cross in both directions to control the airline, which must always know the location of the aircraft in the sky; Therefore, it has been observed that the increase and development of one leads to the further development of the other. The general policies of the Sixth Development Plan are based on the three pillars of "Resistance Economy", "Leadership in Science and Technology" and "Cultural Excellence and Resilience". Based on this and with a comprehensive view of the general policies of the system in the related areas announced by the Supreme Leader (Modazeleh Al-Aali), and with the aim of creating a systematic approach in formulating the system of issues in the field of communication networks and Transportation industry, different dimensions of this field can be divided into the following four categories:

• Financial and economic (with a comprehensive view of the general policies of the resistance economy),

• Governance and management (with a comprehensive view of the general policies of the Sixth Development Plan, and the general policies of Article 44 of the Constitution),

• Industry and technology (with a comprehensive view of the general policies of the transportation sector, and the general policies of science and technology),

• Cultural and social (with a comprehensive view of general consumption pattern reform policies, general environmental policies, and general health policies)
